Discover Southeast Alaska with a Renowned Local Explorer and Photographer

We are thrilled to announce that Dan Evans will be featured as a special guest Expedition Leader on three sailings aboard the 10-guest Misty Fjord this summer.

Dan has lived in Sitka for over 35 years, and has explored the Alaskan wilderness extensively. His adventures have included summiting Denali, skiing across the Juneau Ice Field, and hiking the most extreme geography of the Last Frontier. Recently, Dan addressed a packed house of locals at the University of Alaska Southeast-Sitka campus to chronicle his epic hike from Sitka to the southern tip of Baranof Island- a journey of 22 days over the course of four summers. Dan is also a well-known photographer, whose work has been featured in The New York Times, Outside magazine, Alaska Airlines MagazineNational Geographic, Alaska Geographic books, and more. His rare and intimate relationship with the land has allowed him to capture unprecedented images of wildlife and wild places. Dates

Dan will act as a personal guide, naturalist, and photo instructor for guests aboard the vessel on the following 8-day "Alaska's Islands, Whales, and Glaciers" itineraries: 

-June 18th-25th, 2016 (Sitka-Juneau)
-August 13th-20th, 2016  (Sitka-Juneau)
-August 20th-27th, 2016  (Juneau-Sitka)

-Navigate the remote eastern coast of Baranof Island, exploring its intimate coves and bays
-World-renowned whale watching and wildlife viewing in Frederick Sound, Stephens Passage, and Icy Strait
-Guided kayaking and DIB (shallow water expedition craft) adventures in Hoonah Sound, Tenakee Inlet, Port Frederick, and more
-Hovercraft flight over the shifting sandbars of the Taku River to explore the largest and only advancing glacier flowing from the Juneau Icefield
-Stunning Tracy Arm, including up-close tidewater glacier viewing
-Port Houghton, Hobart Bay, or Windham Bay with evening beach fire and king crab feast
