Circumnavigate Iceland

Known as ‘The Land of Fire and Ice’, Iceland is an exquisite country of contrasts. From ice-covered glaciers to geothermal pools, active volcanoes, and moss-covered lava fields, Iceland offers an unforgettable and diverse experience. Your clients' 12-day voyage starts and ends in Reykjavík, the world’s northernmost capital. This is their chance to visit Grímsey Island, where Iceland meets the Arctic Circle, and Húsavík, the oldest settlement in Iceland. They’ll see natural wonders such as the Westfjords and Látrabjarg, the westernmost point in the country and home to millions of cliff-dwelling birds, including puffins, guillemots, and razorbills.

Greenland Saga

The Earth's largest island, Greenland is home to fjords, snow-capped mountains, and towering waterfalls. It also has the only permanent ice sheet outside of Antarctica, and it covers three-quarters of the island. On this voyage, your clients will explore southwest Greenland, an area with natural hot water springs and remote villages not connected by roads. They’ll see Camp Frieda, named after Hurtigruten expedition team member Friederike Bronny, who spent a year living in a tent there when she was a geography student. They'll join the expedition team for hiking or kayaking, or attend a traditional kaffemik celebration with the locals.

Meet Friederike Bronny

Expedition team member Friederike ‘Frieda’ Bronny is a geographer and biologist who specializes in the ecology of polar regions. Since 1985 she has worked as a lecturer in the Arctic and in Antarctica and has been an expedition team member on many expeditions to Greenland. As a student she spent more than a year living in a tent on Greenland. In 2013, when MS Fram was planning to land at this unnamed valley and had to inform the authorities of their destination, the captain responded: “At Hurtigruten, we call it ‘Camp Frieda’” â€" and the name became official.

The Path of the Caribou

On this adventure along the coasts of Greenland and Canada your clients will witness stunning natural scenery alongside amazing fauna, both land and sea. In Greenland, they'll visit the old mining settlement of Ivittuut, where they may see native musk oxen. They’ll also visit two of Canada’s great national parks. They'll search the mountains and fjords of Torngat Mountains National Park in Labrador for caribou, polar bears, black bears, and wolves. On the west coast of Newfoundland, foxes and moose can be found among Gros Morne National Park’s fjords, sandy beaches, and valleys.
