Star Clippers adds ports of call in Cambodia to Southeast Asia sailing itineraries

TStar Clippers Adds Ports of Call in Cambodia to Southeast Asia Sailing Itineraries

Miami, FL (March 2019) Star Clippers has announced they will be adding ports in Cambodia to their popular Southeast Asia itineraries. These unique tall ship sailings around Thailand and Indonesia are known for visiting exotic and off-the-beaten-path locales that the big cruise ships cannot access, allowing guests an authentic experience in ports big and small. Star Clippers' new itineraries for 2020 include 10- and 11-night sailings that visit Cambodia for the first time, and will vary port of calls on the Thai, Malay and Indonesian archipelagos.

The 170-passenger Star Clipper will begin calling on Cambodia during a newly launched 11-night round trip itinerary out of Ko Samui, Thailand in April. Cambodian ports of call include the island of Koh Rong, a wildlife paradise boasting dense forests and white sandy beaches where guests can join a boat excursion or jungle walk, or simply relax and enjoy the crystal clear ocean water. In Sihanoukville, a trendy coastal city known for its uninterrupted beaches and freshly caught seafood, guests will get a taste of a more cosmopolitan side of Cambodia. A similar, 10-day version of this itinerary will also visit Cambodia as well as several new Thai ports of call including Ko Wua Ta Lap, a National Marine Park famous for spectacular views and Pattaya, where the nightlife scene is as big a draw as the natural beauty of the tranquil Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens.

For guests looking for a truly iconic Cambodia experience, an optional, two-day excursion to visit the temple complex of Angkor Wat in Siem Reap will be available. The two-day option to one of the world's largest religious monuments includes hotel accommodations, roundtrip flights from Sihanoukville, transfers, most meals, and visits to the Bayon Temples, Phnom Bakheng and Angkor Thom Temple.

The 11-day Ko Samui itinerary will sail April 11 and October 10, with rates starting at $2,310 per person, based on double occupancy. The 10-day itinerary will sail April 22 and October 21, with rates starting at $2,100 per person, double.

Star Clippers sailings are set apart from other cruises in that many of the ports visited by their fleet of tall clipper ships cannot be accessed by larger vessels. This translates to fewer crowds, and a more authentic experience for guests.

For more than 25 years, Star Clippers has been introducing travelers to the thrill of modern tall ship sailing to remote ports in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Indonesia and Far East. The company operates three of the world's largest and tallest sailing vessels: Star Clipper and Star Flyer are traditional clipper ships with modern amenities carrying 170 guests, while the 227-guest Royal Clipper holds the Guinness World Record for being the largest and only five-masted, full-rigged sailing ship in service today. All three ships have expansive teak decks, swimming pools, informal dining, convivial tropical bars on deck and piano lounges. The brand's newest vessel, Flying Clipper, will debut in 2019.
