From there, the MS Fram hugs the northwest coastline of icy fjords, hot springs, and stunning lava and rock formations, as well as passing densely populated clusters of avian sanctuaries. During this 12-day journey, guests have the opportunity to dog-sledge along centuries-old Norse trading routes, hike among religious ruins and kayak in the pristine playgrounds of seals, salmon, trout and minke whales. Weather permitting, these activities and more are scheduled as part of daily landings that include Inuit towns and villages like Qassiarsuk, a community with a population of 56 people, known for the settlement of the Viking Erik Raude.
