Strong Exchange Rate Stretches Dollar 30% Further In Norway This Summer

Seattle, April, 2015 â€" Summer is always an ideal time for traveling to Norway, and thanks to a strong USD/NOK exchange rate and exceptional savings packages from Hurtigruten, a world leader in expedition voyages, summer 2015 is by far the best time. Ranked among the world’s happiest countries, the Land of the Midnight Sun boasts stunning natural beauty â€" majestic mountains, fabulous fjords and more than a 100,000 sparkling lakes â€" plus a culture steeped in Viking lore, yet thriving with modern amenities. Value-conscious voyagers will delight in shopping dollars yielding 30% more value than last year. And that is not counting savings of up to 40% with Hurtigruten’s Unspecified Cabin Guarantee - available when booking inside, outside or suite cabin categories. Or the even greater convenience offered with Hurtigruten’s 10-day Cruise, Tour and Airfare Package â€" an easy to book, complete vacation package. Guests augmenting any of these offers with the purchase of the line’s Midnight Sun Excursion Package - four of Hurtigruten’s most popular excursions bundled together â€" receive a $150 on board credit.

Through August, Hurtigruten’s attractive 10-day Summer Voyage, Air and Hotel Packages, combines a seven-day northbound Coastal Voyage along the fjord-indented west coast of Norway with preferred rate air from dozens of North American gateways plus a night in Bergen and Oslo at the lowest price possible - $2,926 to $4,924 per person, double. These rates are available only by calling 866-552-0371 and speaking with one of Hurtigruten’s voyage specialists. Another summer option is to structure a value package using the company’s Unspecified Cabin Guarantee. This guarantee affords savings of up to 40% on the six-, seven-, 11- or 12-day Norway Coastal Voyages - recognized as “The world’s most beautiful voyage,” by Lonely Planet and twice honored by National Geographic Traveler as the “Best Destination in the World.” The only caveat for such savings is allowing Hurtigruten to assign the cabin within the category chosen by the guest. Priced from $1,369 to $4,449.

The Midnight Sun Excursion Package consists of four of Hurtigruten’s most popular excursions. A city tour of Tromso â€" the largest city inside the Arctic Circle â€" showcases the Polaria visitor center, as well as the circa 1965 Arctic Cathedral, a daring architectural masterpiece dominated by the largest glass mosaic window in Europe. In the small fishing village of Gjesvær, guests visit Gjesværstappan, a thriving nature reserve that is home to Finnmark’s largest flock of puffins and numerous kittiwakes. A top-of-the-world feeling awaits those on the Breakfast at the North Cape excursion - the very top of Europe - where a 180-degree panoramic film highlights the changing seasons of the region and a visit with a Sami family takes place on the return drive. Finally, across the Brønnøysund Bridge, voyagers visit the Norwegian Aquaculture Centre to learn about salmon farming, one of the country’s largest industries. The interactive experience encourages salmon feeding, underwater photography and salmon tasting.

A staple of Norwegian culture since 1893, Hurtigruten’s fleet of modern ships offers a unique glimpse into Norwegian culture as they transport guests and locals alike along Norway’s scenic fjord-indented west coast, stopping at 34 ports of call between the cultural center of Bergen and Kirkenes, high above the Arctic Circle. Sailing aboard Hurtigruten ships means large, comfortable lounges with panoramic windows and wonderful views from large outdoor decks; open seating for most meals; authentic Norwegian cuisine designed with fresh seasonal ingredients and incredible seafood, complemented by a comprehensive wine list; a range of comfortable cabin choices that includes large suites, some with private balconies; and a friendly, well-informed crew with multilingual tour directors, ready to offer helpful assistance.

Hurtigruten is a world leader in exploration travel, sailing to the most remote of destinations as well as year-round along Norway's coast. The company’s fleet of intimate ships, which each carry 100 to 646 guests, allows travelers to enjoy the scenery and culture of the destination in a relaxed atmosphere.
