Reykjavik, Iceland

1. Where will your clients visit
on a Cunard voyage to Iceland?

Those taking a voyage to Iceland with Cunard will have the opportunity to visit three ports. The first is Akureyri, a small city that boasts sparkling blue fjords, bubbling mud pools, and snow‑kissed mountains. Ísafjörður brings prime whale‑watching waters, and the impressive capital city of Reykjavik, which offers a vibrant shopping and culinary scene. Enjoy a scenic cruise‑by of Hrisey, a beautiful small island off the north coast and Eyjafjörður, the longest fjord in Iceland.

2. What is Iceland known for?

Iceland is known for its fierce landscapes and incredible natural wonders. Find an abundance of waterfalls, natural hot springs, impressive geysers, and more. Iceland also sits on both the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, the meeting of which can be seen in various locations. As well as its scenery, Iceland is known for its unique local delicacies. These include kjötsúpa (lamb soup), hákarl (fermented shark), hardfiskur (dried fish), and Brennivín, an herbal spirit made using grains and caraway seeds.

3. What should your
clients pack?

When packing for Iceland it's wise to be prepared for mixed weather. Icelandic summers usually bring temperatures of around 60°F, so a few light layers and a waterproof jacket might be useful. Comfortable walking shoes, and even hiking poles, could also be an advantage if your clients intend to explore the natural wonders of Iceland on foot. As for time on board, feel free to pack whatever is comfortable. Your clients can also enjoy three Gala Evenings on your 14‑night Iceland voyage.

4. Will your clients see the
Northern lights?

Iceland is situated just outside the Arctic Circle and, like other northern nations such as Norway, it does offer its visitors a chance of seeing the Northern Lights. This will depend upon your clients' sail date, however. The Northern Lights are most visible between October and April when the days in this part of the world are shorter. For the best chance of seeing this natural phenomenon, choose a Norwegian Northern Lights voyage.

5. What is the weather
like in Iceland?

The weather in Iceland can be somewhat unpredictable in the winter, bringing unexpected flurries of snow and high winds. In the summer months, however, your clients can expect mild and sunny weather with a mix of blue skies and clouds - an ideal climate for scenic exploration. From June to August the temperature is usually between 50°F and 70°F, so while Iceland could never be described as tropical, the weather is generally comfortable.
